Description:

Experience Arvo Pärt's stunning "Berliner Messe", Tomás Luis de Victoria's striking "Officium defunctorum" and William Harris' crystalline "Faire is the Heaven" at Boston's beloved Church of the Covenant. Contemporary Estonian composer Pärt sets the Latin Mass to hauntingly lush and beautiful music for chorus and organ, while Spanish Renaissance composer Victoria's a cappella "Officium defunctorum", a Requiem mass, contrasts with themes of mourning and remembrance. English composer William Harris' elegant "Faire is the Heaven" rounds out the final concert of Cantata Singers' 54th season. Terry Decima, pianist and retired Professor at New England Conservatory, will give the pre-concert talk, and all are welcome at a free post-concert reception following the performance.
